The Yellowstone Kit is named for the Yellowstone Park in Wyoming which is believed to have been first seen by a non-native by Mountain Man John Colter. Stories told by Mountain Men over the next 40 years of boiling mud, steaming rivers, and petrified trees eventually brought more explorers to the region including famous Mountain Man and explorer Jim Bridger. Yellowstone eventually became the first National Park in the United States, approved by President Grant in 1872.
The Yellowstone Kit is a basic but comprehensive Trauma kit from Mountain Man Medical. When designing this kit the team set out to build something that they felt would suffice for 99% of trauma emergencies. Similar to the Sweetwater Kit but with added QuickClot, Chest Seals, and additional gauze.
We dare you to compare it to competing trauma kits that cost more and come with lower-quality components.
Also, when putting this kit together the team focused on compact components. This kit can easily be repurposed to a smaller pouch or an ankle IFAK or cargo pocket. Mini compression bandage, mini marker, small shears, tightly bundled gloves, compact chest seals and vacuum sealed hemostatic dressing, and compressed gauze and bandages are some of the keys to that overall compact delivery.

ChitoGauze OTC Hemostatic Dressing – 3-inch x 48-inch
This battlefield-proven hemostatic gauze is ideal for wound packing and stopping the bleed. It is z-folded in sterile packaging and vacuum sealed to reduce footprint and fit in any IFAK. This is an impregnated gauze, not a powder or granule. It is fully safe and effective and has a shelf life of over 5 years.
Hyfin Compact Twin Chest Seal
The HyFin Vent Twin Pack which gives responders two vented chest seals in a compact packaging for the treatment of penetrating injuries to the chest. Designed with 3-vented channels that allow air to escape the chest cavity during exhalation but prevents air from entering through the injury site during inhalation. Each HyFin Vent Compact Chest Seal is 4.75” x 4.75” and made with advanced adhesive to provide a superior adhesion in the most adverse conditions, including sweaty or hairy casualties.
Contained in a rugged, easy-to-open foil pouch, the perforated packaging allows users to open only one dressing at a time as needed. Its small packaging is ideal for low-profile kits as you do not have to fold it to get it to fit in your kit, go-bag, cargo pocket, or body armor.
TacMed Compact Trauma Bandage
The Compact Trauma Bandage from TacMed Solutions is a simple, effective pressure dressing designed to treat non-life-threatening hemorrhaging. It utilizes an elastic wrap material that can be used to generate pressure and a sterile wound pad that can be placed directly over the injury to aid in the control of bleeding. The bandage is flat-folded and vacuum-sealed to create a low profile so it can be easily stored.
